Dr Michael Fakih, MD - Fakih IVF Dubai & Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.

Dr. Michael Fakih is Reproductive Endocrinologist and Infertility Consultant with over 25 years of experience. He is recognized as a leader in the field of assisted reproduction and is responsible for over 12,000 IVF deliveries. His continuous efforts in innovation of new techniques has made him a pioneer in his field. He has been listed in 2008 as one of the top 15 American Lebanese of all time in the category of Medicine. Dr. Fakih is Chairman of Fakih IVF, UAE, IVF Michigan, USA, and Founder of FIRST IVF, Lebanon. In addition, he is Associate Professor at Michigan State University, College of Human Medicine.

Dr Marilyn Glenville, Phd, U.K.

Marilyn Glenville PhD is the UK’s leading nutritionist specialising in fertility and women’s health. She is the former President of the Food and Health Forum at the Royal Society of Medicine and she was an observer on the Food Standards Agency’s Expert Group on the safety of vitamins and minerals. She is a patron of the Daisy Network a charity for women with premature ovarian failure.

Dr Glenville is a popular international speaker. As a respected author on women's healthcare she gives regular talks on radio and frequently appears on television and in the press.

For over thirty years Dr Glenville has studied and practiced nutritional medicine specialising in the nutritional approach to female hormone problems.

With her special interest in the female hormone cycle, Dr Glenville works with women who suffer menstrual problems such as menorrhagia, dysmenorrhoea, amenorrhoea, PMS, fibroids, PCOS and endometriosis, and who wish to work on a nutritional approach to these problems. Dr Glenville also helps couples who are having difficulty conceiving or having recurrent miscarriages where they may want to use nutrition to help them conceive naturally or for those women and couples who want to use nutrition alongside assisted reproductive techniques. She also helps women looking for nutritional help around the menopause and for prevention of osteoporosis. Dr Glenville strongly believes in an integrated approach to healthcare using the best of both the medical and nutritional worlds.

In 2005, Dr Glenville was invited to give a presentation on the integrated approach to infertility at The Royal Society of Medicine as part of the celebrations to mark the RSM’s bicentennial year in conjunction with the Prince of Wales’ Foundation for Integrated Health.

Dr Glenville is also one of the team of the Kent Endometriosis Centre (KENDOC) which was set up in 2006 in response to The British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy who recognised the need for accredited centres for the management of endometriosis. The team at KENDOC consists of two gynaecologists, a colorectal surgeon, an anaesthetist, nurse pain specialist, GP who is an acupuncturist, a counsellor and Dr Glenville as the nutritionist in order to offer an individual holistic approach to the care and management of women with endometriosis.

Dr Simone Palini, Phd - Cervesi Hospital Cattolica , Italy

Simone Palini approached IVF in 1999 at "Infermi Hospital" in Rimini and was the laboratory director of the IVF unit at ‘Cervesi’ hospital in Cattolica until 2004. He obtained a degree in Biology at Urbino University (1998) and a specialty in molecular genetics at Bologna University (2000) with a thesis on PGD. In 2008 he obtained ESHRE certification as senior clinical embryologist. He has worked in different public and private laboratories in Italy, Europe and the UK.

His major interests are embryo/gamete vitrification, PGD and gene expression profile in infertility. Simone has reported as a speaker at numerous international conferences and Master degree programmes. Dr. Palini won the Robert Edwards Prize Paper Award for 2013"

Dr Suresh Kattera, Phd - Pearl-Singapore Fertility Centre & Research Institute, Chennai, India

Dr Suresh Kattera did his masters in Clinical Microbiology from the University of Mysore in 1983 and PhD in Reproductive Immunology from the Mangalore University in 1987 and was awarded research Gold medal for his research work on antisperm antibodies in varicocele patients in 1986. He served in the department of Microbiology, Kasturba Medical College (now Manipal University) in the capacity of Lecturer, Assistant Professor and Associate Professor from 1987-1994 during which he taught microbiology to medical, dental and post-graduate students. He was adjudged as one of the best teachers and was awarded Distinguished Alumni Award in 1994. He was awarded International Cancer Technology Transfer Fellowships (ICRETT) by the International Union against Cancer (UICC Union Internationale Centre le Cancer in 1990 to work on a project at UC Davis, California, USA.

Dr Suresh worked as Scientific Director in the Gleneagles Hospital IVF Centre from 1997-2009 during which he was responsible for it to achieve the top position in terms of success among all the IVF centres in Singapore according to Ministry of Health (MOH) publication in 2003. During this period, he has published several papers in reputed international journals. He held the position of Adjunct Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Queensland, Australia from 2006-2009 and Visiting Professor in the Department of Reproductive Medicine and O&G, Ramachandra University, India, an affiliate of Harvard International from 2004-2009. Dr Suresh is currently the Scientific Director at the Parkway East Hospital Fertility & IVF Centre.

Dr Suresh is a regular invited speaker at International conferences and has achieved several world firsts in the field of Assisted Reproduction. He achieved world first pregnancy after enucleation of tripronuclear zygotes, published in the journal Human Reproduction (2003). He showed for the first time in the world the deleterious effect of E2 & P4 on embryo viability in vitro and the benefit of short co-incubation of gametes published in Fertility and Sterility (2003). He showed for the first time in the world that rescue ICSI can be performed on oocytes that failed to fertilize 6h post- insemination, published in Human Reproduction (2003). He showed for the first time 4 types of pronuclear orientation in the zygotes, published in Human Reproduction (2004). He showed for first time that up to 93% post-thaw survival of frozen embryos after modification of slow embryo freezing technique, published in Fertility and Sterility (2005).

He is a member of the Editorial Advisory board, The Open Women’s Health Journal and manuscript reviewer for journals; Human Reproduction, and Reproductive Biology & Endocrinology. He was member of the team that performed the first ovarian tissue transplant in Singapore in October 2011.

Mrs Denise Donati - Fertility Consultants International & Fertility Solutions Sunshine Coast and Fertility Solutions Bundaberg, Buderim, Australia

Denise Donati is a Registered Nurse/Midwife and has worked in assisted reproduction for 23 years. She is passionate about education for nurses and allied health professionals working in the area of Assisted Reproduction. She is also passionate about making a difference for her patients by providing them with an exceptional experience. In 2006 Denise was invited to Vietnam to assist establish a local Fertility Nurse Training Program. Denise has also presented extensively in the UK and South East Asia on topics relating to assisted reproduction.

In 2007 Denise set up her own IVF Clinics, Fertility Solutions Sunshine Coast and Fertility Solutions Bundaberg in Queensland Australia and in November 2012 established Affordable IVF a more achievable IVF treatment model.

Denise also runs her own Nurse Education and Training Consultancy business and as an advanced practitioner her extended roles include performing intra uterine inseminations, ultra sound scanning and embryo transfers. Denise is currently working on an on line education course for nurses and allied health professionals working in ART titled Infertility-e-Learning and hopes to launch this late 2015.

Professor Adam Balen, MD - The Leeds Centre for Reproductive Medicine (LCRM), Seacroft Hospital, Leeds, U.K.

Adam Balen is a full time National Health Service consultant and was awarded a personal chair by The University of Leeds in 2004 and a DSc in 2010 for his research, which is the highest academic award given by universities in the UK. His special interests include all aspects of PCOS, Assisted Conception, Paediatric & Adolescent Gynaecology and Disorders of Sexual Development. He is a member of the WHO Global Infertility Guidelines Group and Chair of the WHO Expert Working Group on the management of PCOS. He is past Chair of the ESHRE Special Interest Group in Reproductive Endocrinology, an editor of The British Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and is the Chair-elect of the British Fertility Society. Author of 11 books and over 230 peer-reviewed papers. Books include Infertility in Practice (4th edition published 2014), Reproductive Endocrinology for the MRCOG and Beyond (2nd edition 2007), The Multi-Disciplinary approach to Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology (2004) and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, RCOG Study Group (2010).

Dr Fadi Mirza, MD - American University of Beirut Medical Center, Beirut, Lebanon

Dr. Fadi Mirza is an Obstetrician-Gynecologist and a Maternal-Fetal Medicine (high risk pregnancy) specialist. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Director of Medical Staff Affairs at the American University of Beirut Medical Center. He is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Dr. Mirza received his M.D. degree from AUB before he relocated to the United States. He then completed a four-year residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Tufts University in Boston followed by a three-year fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at Columbia University in New York. Upon completion of his training, he joined the faculty of Columbia University Medical Center. In 2011, he joined the faculty of the American University of Beirut and currently practices at its medical center.

Dr. Mirza is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He has presented a significant number of scientific abstracts and has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in the field of high risk pregnancy and prenatal diagnosis. He is the recipient of many awards, including the Berlex Best Teaching Award and the Award of Research Excellence of the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine.

Dr Monika Chawla, MD - Fakih IVF Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.

Dr. Monikaa Chawla is a Reproductive endocrinologist and fertility specialist at FakihIVF Abu Dhabi, practising the subspeciality for more than 16 years . She acquired her MD in 1998 and was awarded the membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (MRCOG) in 2004. She went on to complete her fellowship in Reproductive medicine at the prestigious Guy And St. Thomas Hospital in London which is also the pioneer center for Pre-Implantation Diagnosis (PGD) in the UK. Dr. Monika is highly specialized in minimal access surgery (Laparoscopy and Hysteroscopy, diagnostic and operative) having trained at the Royal Free Hospital in London and Kiel University in Germany. Her research work has been published in 27 international and indexed journals and has presented at various international conferences.She completed her postgraduate award in Assisted Reproduction from Warwick University ,UK with thesis on 'Time lapse technology and its current implications'. Dr. Monika is a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the British Fertility Society and the American Association of Gynecology Laparoscopists.

Her current publications and research work is focused on recurrent Implantation failures and timelapse morphokinetics with preimplantation genetic screening.

Dr Fady Sharara, MD - The George Washington University, School of Medicine, Washington, D.C, U.S.A.

Fady I. Sharara, M.D, FACOG, is a Board Certified Reproductive Endocrinologist/Infertility specialist, and a Board Certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist. Dr Sharara is the founder and Medical Director for the Virginia Center for Reproductive Medicine (VCRM) in Reston, VA and is a Clinical professor in the dept of OB/GYN at George Washington University in Washington, DC. Dr Sharara has published more than 70 scientific papers and book chapters. He is the editor of “Ethnic Differences in Fertility and Assisted Reproduction” published in 2013.

Dr Sandro Esteves, MD, PhD, Sao Paulo, Brazil

Sandro Esteves is Founder and Medical Director of Androfert, Andrology and Human Reproduction Clinic, a referral center for male reproduction in Brazil. Dr. Esteves is a Boardcertified Urologist and Infertility Consultant with over 15 years of experience.

Dr. Esteves obtained his MD in 1990 from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil, where he did residency training in Urology/Andrology and was awarded a Master degree in Science (Surgery). He completed his training in reproductive medicine at the Cleveland Clinic in the United States, and was awarded his PhD in 2001 from the Federal University of São Paulo.

Sandro is a certified "Reproductive Laboratory Inspector" by both the College of American Pathologists and RedLatinoAmericana de Reprodución Asistida. His clinical interests include male infertility, microsurgery, reproductive endocrinology and quality management. His clinic was the first center in South America to obtain full ISO 9001 certifications and to implement clean room technology in its reproductive laboratories.

He is Professor of Research at the University of Campinas (Brazil) and Clinical Tutor in Urology (Honorary) at the University of Edinburgh (UK). He is also Research Collaborator and External Preceptor at the Cleveland Clinic's Center for Reproductive Medicine (USA). His research interests include azoospermia-related infertility, microsurgical sperm retrieval techniques, fertility preservation, varicocele, and clean room technology.

Dr. Esteves has authored over 100 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals as well as about 40 chapters in textbooks. He has co-edited journal supplements and textbooks related to infertility and IVF, including the best-selling textbook “Quality Management in ART Clinics: A Practical Guide”. His productivity science indicators include over 1,200 citations and a h-index of 20. Sandro serves on Editorial Board of 5 peer-reviewed international journals, and is Associate Editor of the International Brazilian Journal of Urology.

He has been guest speaker of many international meetings in over 20 countries. He was the recipient of the 2006 "Alumni of the Year" Award from the Cleveland Clinic CRM, and the 2012, 2013 and 2014 Star Award from the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.

Sandro is married to Fabiola and has two children, Alexandre and Catarina. The family lives in Campinas, Brazil.

Dr Raj Rai, MD - St Mary’s Hospital NHS Trust, U.K.

Having won an open entrance scholarship, Raj Rai qualified from St Thomas’s Hospital Medical School in 1988. He was awarded his MD in 1999 after submission of his thesis on Antiphospholipid antibodies and recurrent miscarriage. After completion of sub-specialty training in Reproductive Medicine & Surgery (Hammersmith Hospital / St Mary’s Hospitals), he was appointed Clinical Senior Lecturer at Imperial College and NHS Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at St Mary’s Hospital in 2002.

He has a busy clinical practice at St Mary’s encompassing, Infertility, Recurrent Miscarriage and Obstetric services. His private practice is based at both The Lindo Wing, St Mary’s and in Harley Street. A firm believer in evidence-based practice and avoidance of the ‘marketing of hope,’ he provides couples with the information and the insight to empower them to make informed decisions regarding their management as they navigate the maelstrom of the fertility roller coaster. He has been named in the Tatler Good Doctors Guide 2013.

Raj teaches, lectures and acts as an expert on courses and conferences both nationally and internationally. His main research interests lie in (a) the relationship between antiphospholipid antibodies and other haemostatic abnormalities, recurrent miscarriage and later pregnancy complications; (b) immune disturbance in pregnancy failure and (c) surgical correction of both congenital and acquired uterine defects and pregnancy loss. He is author of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists Scientific Opinion paper on http://www.rcog.org.uk/womens-health/clinical-guidance/immunological-testing-and-interventions-reproductive-failure immune testing in infertility and the co-author of the RCOG Guideline on the Investigation and treatment of women with recurrent miscarriage. Currently, he is the Chief Investigator of the Department of Health – funded (£1.2 million) multi-centre placebo controlled trial assessing progesterone supplementation in the treatment of women with ‘unexplained’ recurrent miscarriage – the PROMISE study.

Professor Mark Hans Emmanuel, MD, PhD - Spaarne Hospital Haarlem/ Heemstede/Hoofddorp & MSRC, Netherlands

Mark Hans Emanuel MD PhD was trained at the Academic Medical Center of University of Amsterdam. Since 1992 he is working in the Spaarne Hospital (University of Amsterdam and Free University) in Haarlem/Heemstede/Hoofddorp as a staff consultant gynaecologist.

In 1998 he wrote a thesis entitled: Submucous Myomas and Abnormal Uterine Bleeding; epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment. His special field of interest is diagnosis and treatment of the uterine cavity (ultrasonography and hysteroscopy).

He is a specialist in advanced hysteroscopic surgery and he is directing an International Referral Center for Asherman’s Disease. He is currently a Board Member of the ISGE.

In 1999 he was awarded as Dutch Inventor of the Year for the invention and development of Hysteroscopic Morcellation. He holds three patents related to Hysteroscopic Morcellation, Gel instillation Sonohysterography and Hysterosalpingo Foam Sonography respectively.

Professor Peter Humaidan, DMSc. - Fertility Clinic at Odense University Hospital, OUH Denmark

Peter Humaidan is a specialist in reproductive endocrinology, professor at The Fertility Clinic at Skive Regional Hospital, Faculty of Health Aarhus University and Faculty of Health Southern University, Odense, Denmark. He is the co-founder of the Skive Fertility Clinic, which eventually became a leader within reproductive medicine in Denmark. During his scientific work he has primarily focused on developing individualized treatment protocols for the infertile patient. ICOS (individualized controlled ovarian stimulation), therefore, is an integral part of his clinical work. Peter Humaidan obtained his doctoral degree (DMSc) from University of Aarhus, Denmark, focusing on the role of LH during the follicular and luteal phases in controlled ovarian stimulation. His research interests include: Triggering of ovulation with GnRH agonist, OHSS prevention, the use of GnRH antagonists, and reproductive endocrinology, He is the founder of the international society “The Copenhagen GnRHa Triggering Workshop Group”, which has published a number of articles on the use of GnRHa trigger. He has authored and co-authored 90 papers in peer-reviewed international journals. Moreover, he is the co-author of the Danish guidelines for OHSS prevention and chapters in textbooks. Peter Humaidan has a wide scientific network and is frequently invited as a speaker at international conferences.

Dr Ali Hellani, PhD - Viafet Dubai, U.A.E.

Dr. Ali Hellani is PGD Lab Director at Fakih IVF with over 13 years of experience in genetics, particularly in Pre-Implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD). Dr. Hellani holds a PhD from Claude Bernard University in France. In his early years, Dr. Hellani established the first Pre-Implantation Genetic Diagnosis laboratory in the Gulf Region at King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Saudi Arabia with a grant from HRH Prince Al Waleed Bin Talal Al Saud. Dr. Hellani was the first scientist worldwide to diagnose multiple diseases on a single cell as well as the first to diagnose the whole set of chromosomes on a single cell. He is currently the first and only scientist to perform PGD on single gene disorders with direct HLA matching. He has recently pioneered a new protocol in microarray that provides results in just six hours instead of 12. Dr. Hellani has written 46 publications and is a reference lab for the screening of genetic diseases and PGD for many IVF centers.

Dr Ana Cobo, PhD - Instituto Valenciano de Infertilidad (IVI), Valencia, Spain

Ana Cobo, PhD, was graduated of the University of Valle in Cali, Colombia ,and obtained a PhD degree at the University of Valencia, Spain, also a Master of Biological Sciences degree in Biology of Reproduction at the University of Chile, and Master degree in Human Reproduction at the University of Valencia, Spain She has been a member of the embryology staff at Instituto Valenciano de Infertilidad (IVI), Valencia, Spain, since 1995 and from 2007 is Manager Director of the Cryobiology Unit.

Dr Cobo’s major areas of interest are female fertility preservation through oocyte and embryo cryopreservation. She is active in investigating novel treatments, including vitrification as a new approach to oocyte banking, preserving fertility in cancer patients, and novel approaches to safe Cryostorage. She is an ALPHA Executive Member Board from its establishment.

She has published over 60 papers in National and International publications, has authored 4 textbook and co-authored over 30 textbook chapters. She has also made over 100 contributions to National and International conferences.

Dr Rupin Shah, MCh. Fakih IVF Abu Dhabi & Dubai, U.A.E.

Dr. Rupin Shah is Specialist Urologist at Fakih IVF with over 24 years of experience. Dr. Rupin Shah is a well-known, internationally recognized expert in the field of Male Infertility and Sexual Dysfunction with specialty. He is the pioneer of male reproductive microsurgery in India and is the developer of the first Indian Penile Prosthesis. Dr. Rupin received his M.B.B.S. from Bombay University with 1st Rank, Distinction in Surgery. He went on to receive an M.S. in General Surgery and an M.Ch in Urology. He has actively been involved in teaching for 20 years and has published over 100 articles and chapters on Male Sexual Dysfunction and Male Infertility. Dr. Rupin has received over 20 prestigious awards for his work in this field, including the DR B C Roy award from the President in India in 2008, granted for developing Andrology as a sub-specialty in India.

Dr Jeffrey Braverman, MD - Braverman Reproductive Immunology, Long Island & Manhattan, U.S.A.

Dr. Braverman is the founder and Medical Director at Braverman Reproductive Immunology with offices in Long Island and Manhattan. Dr. Braverman was honored as the youngest graduate at New York University where he was accepted at the age of 14. He went on to attend Medical School at The Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan and completed his internship and residency at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine in New York.

After completing his residency Dr. Braverman established a private medical practice in Long Island New York. For more than 20 years, Dr. Braverman has been treating patients with all complications related to Recurrent Pregnancy Loss and has become one of the nation's leading authorities in the field Reproductive Immunology. He has managed thousands of cycles of IUI and IVF with a large majority of his patients suffering from Recurrent Pregnancy Loss and Failure to initiate and Successfully Complete a Pregnancy (RPL and FISCP). He has consistently maintained one of the highest success rates in New York despite the complexity of his case load. For the last three years in a row, his practice was voted the Best Infertility Practice on Long Island in an independent poll conducted by the Long Island Press.

Dr. Braverman has published articles in the field of high risk obstetrics related to IUGR, Gestational Diabetes, and Fetal Distress and has gained unequaled experience managing as well as delivering this High Risk group of patients. In fact Dr. Braverman has delivered well over 5000 babies in his career. He has been featured with his RPL autoimmune patients on Discovery Channels Baby Story, local TV news stations, and has hosted numerous radio shows on reproductive immunology and fertility.

He assists and consults with patients from around the world with problems related to RPL and FISCP. He has designed the most complete panel for the diagnosis and management of immune related pregnancy complications, as well as one of the most comprehensive thrombophilia (blood clotting) panels available.

His current office staff has all been part of this practice for at least 20 years and most, longer than that. This has also been one of the most important elements in maintaining our consistency. You will always get someone knowledgeable when you call the office. Dr. Braverman performs all his own consults and sonograms. You will never get a "fill in "when you call for a consult or come in for a visit. He manages every case from start to finish. Most have his cell phone number and email and feel free to contact him with any questions. Many of Dr. Braverman's patients from around the country learn about him in numerous immunology and fertility chat rooms on the internet, where he has developed a loyal following.

Dr. Braverman is a member in good standing with the American Society of Reproductive Immunology, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the European Society of Reproductive Immunology, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the New York State Medical Society, the Nassau County Medical Society and is actively Board Certified from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr Braverman is currently serving as co-chairman for the American Society of Reproductive Immunology (ASRI).

Dr Karunakar Marikinti, MD - Fakih IVF Dubai, U.A.E.

Dr. Marikinti is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Fakih IVF with special expertise and qualifications in Complex Infertility, Implantation Failures, IVF, Miscarriages, and Speculum-Free HysteroscopyWith over 22 years of experience in teaching hospitals and NHS UK, Dr. Marikinti is currently a Sessional Consultant at UK’s largest and most advanced fertility unit - Care Fertility. He obtained his MD and DNB as well as a 6-year course certificate from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi in 1988 and 1991, followed by MRCOG, FRCOG, Diploma in Ultrasound (RCOG/RCR) and a Certificate of Advanced USS Skills from King’s College, and CCST at St. Mary’s Hospital in London. His IVF practice started in Bourn Hall, Cambridge, the world’s first IVF Unit, and includes London Women’s Clinic, Harley Street, London. And his Fetal Medicine fellowship took place at Leeds General Infirmary, followed by a Fellowship in Recurrent Miscarriages at St. Mary’s Hospital in London. His large amount of original work in endometrial assessment in luteal phase in recurrent implantation failures has been published in Bourn Hall Text Book and related work in indexed journals and he is very active in presenting at international conferences around the world.

Dr Mohamed Eid, MD - Fakih IVF Dubai, U.A.E.

Dr. Mohamed El-Said Eid, Consultant IVF, OB/GYN, has over 15 years of clinical experience in IVF and OB/GYN. He received his medical degree from Cairo University in 1997 where he has been a professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Infertility for more than 10 years. He is a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, European Society of Human Reproductive Endocrinology and Middle East Fertility Society. Concurrently, since 2000, he worked as a Senior IVF Consultant in Saudi Arabia at a medical center that completed 1000-1500 IVF cycles per year. While there, Dr. Eid designed the policy for prediction and management of Ovarian Hyper-Stimulation Syndrome and introduced the usage of 3D-Ultrasounds in their infertility work-ups. In addition, he modified the ovarian stimulation protocol and set up their PGD program. He is an expert in the field of gynecological endoscopy, with many years of experience in performing both laparoscopies and hysteroscopies. Dr. Eid’s specializes in treating recurrent miscarriages and fetomaternal medicine. He has 19 publications in scientific journals.

Dr Ahmed Fakih, MD - Fakih IVF Dubai, U.A.E.

Dr. Ahmad Fakih is a Specialist Obstetrics and Gynecology. He acquired his medical degree from the American University of Beirut. During his training, he was awarded the BEST Teaching Resident award and he was the president of the Resident Staff Quality Council. His interests lie in recurrent IVF failures, implantation failures and treating women with decreased ovarian reserve. Recently, he participated in the publishing of, “Anxiety, cognitive and depressive assessment in adolescents with polycystic ovary syndrome.” Dr. Ahmad provides personalized patient care, aimed at making the fertility treatment period as stress free as possible for the couple.

Dr Alan Thornhill, PhD - Illumina, U.K.

Dr Thornhill received his PhD in Genetics from University College London in 1996 and has been an IVF Laboratory or Scientific Director since 1999, working in the USA (Mayo Clinic) and the UK (Guy’s Hospital, The Bridge Centre and London Fertility Centre) specialising in Preimplantation Genetics. He joined Illumina as an Associate Director of Market Development for Europe, Middle East and Africa specializing in Reproductive and Genetic Health in December 2013. He is an Honorary Reader in Reproductive Genetics at the University of Kent and has served as Deputy Chair of the ESHRE Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) Consortium. Since 2009, Dr Thornhill has been a Professional Member of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority, the body that regulates and licenses all IVF centres in the UK, and a member of the Expert Registry (IVF devices) for the UK Medicines & Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). His research interests focus on reproductive genetics, preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) and improving safety and effectiveness of IVF. He has over 50 peer-reviewed articles, speaks regularly to schools, lay audiences, national and international conferences.

Professor Paul Devroey, MD, Brussels

Prof. Dr.Paul Devroey obtained his MD from the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium in 1971, and his PhD, on oocyte donation, in gynaecology, obstetrics and infertility from Brussels Free University in 1989. Professor Devroey is chairman of the Belgian National Committee for Bioethics, past chairman of ESHRE and past president of the Belgian Society of Reproductive Medicine. He is director of Medical Education of the International federation of Fertility Societies.

Professor Devroey’s main research interests include preimplantation genetics aneuploidy screening, ovarian stimulation techniques, treatment of male factor infertility, and the improvement of the infertility diagnosis and management, as well as the patients’ experience of treatments.

He has published over 523 articles and three books, and received three national and four international research awards. He has pioneered the use of intracytoplasmic sperm injection. He is a member of the editorial boards of Fertility and Sterility and Acta Obstetrica et Gynocologica Scandinavica. He is fellow ad eundem of the Royal Collega (UK) and Doctor Honoris Causa of the Aristotle University, Thessaloniki, Greece.

Dr Arthur Tzianabos, PhD - OvaScience

Dr. Tzianabos is President of OvaScience. Prior to this role, Dr. Tzianabos was Chief Scientific Officer at the Company. Dr. Tzianabos brings to OvaScience more than 20 years of experience in drug discovery and development, strategic planning, portfolio management, business development and alliance management. He joined OvaScience from Shire, where he served as Senior Vice President and Head, Research and Early Development. During his eight years at Shire, he served in roles of increasing responsibility and was instrumental in the development of the human genetic therapies pipeline following Shire’s acquisition of Transkaryotic Therapies, Inc. in 2005. He also played an active role in the development, approval, and commercial launch of several therapies for the treatment of patients with rare diseases. Prior to Shire, Dr. Tzianabos was an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and maintained laboratories at the Channing Laboratory, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at Harvard Medical School. A major focus of his research was on the development of therapies for the prevention of adhesion formation, a major cause of female infertility. During his time at Harvard, Dr. Tzianabos served as a consultant to several biotechnology companies, including Genzyme Corporation and Eli Lilly. Dr. Tzianabos has published more than 80 scientific papers, reviews, book chapters, and patents. He continues to advise and serve on the Boards of several biotechnology companies.

Dr. Tzianabos holds a B.S. in Biology from Boston College and a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of New Hampshire.
